Grace Sanford is an emerging queer artist focused on depicting human interactions with the land around them. Drawing on their background as a marine biologist, they combine their passion for animals with their fine art degree, drawing you into a world of surrealism, observation, and self-reflection.
In the spring of 2024, Grace Sanford was awarded the Portland Museum of Art’s prestigious Tidal Shift Award - a prize given to young artists navigating themes of climate change. This award was given out of 900 entries from every state east of the Mississippi. The winning painting was displayed in the museum throughout the summer marking Sanford’s first museum exhibition.
