The Space

Landscape painting is the art of getting to know the space that supports your body. The human body is the product of the land which supports us, and after our passing our body goes to form the land. Connection to the land is the base of our existence, and every physical thing we interact with in physical space. The modern world alienates us from the space we inhabit, and from the land under our feet. We grow distant from the land, and we live instead in an inside artificial space of expansive cement, shiny metal, and cheap plastic. We put food in our mouths that we don’t understand as an organism that grows, and we live in dead and sterile homes. In observing space, we observe inside and outside landscapes, and we are able to better understand where we live. Landscape painting allows us to see the truth of the space around us.
